| What is the difference between a reproduction and
a reprint? |
| |
A
Reproduction is a high resolution
scan (usually 1200 ppi) made of a book or manuscript. This scan is then cleaned
using a special process not to remove original notes and marks.
Some books and documents must be reproduced in order to preserve
their uniqueness as a rare original primary source. These reproductions
are available in electronic format as an eBook in PDF only.

A
Reprint is also a high resolution
scan (usually 1200 ppi) of a book or manuscript; however, the book is then
sent to an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) editor and converted
from the digital scan into text. It is then sent to three other editors
who make corrections from the original text to guarantee accuracy.
These editors spend a combined average of 160 hours per book. This process
makes the text you are reading the most accurate original primary
source available. |
