Writing your biographical information is very important to being published. People must know who you are before they are going to purchase what you are writing. Many authors believe their work stands on its own, but for the general public they want to know about you before they will discover what you have to say.
As a writer you should write your own biographical information. Who knows you better than yourself. But, after you have written your biographical information, give it to someone who knows you and let them read what you have to say about yourself.
A few rules of thumb about writing your biographical information:
Write in third person
List facts, not wishes
Reference relevant experience (especially in the field you writing about)
Write crisp and sharp
Capture your audiences attention with a hook
Remember, if you say you did it, and you did not, your writing career is over. Be true to yourself first. |
