The Atonement

The Atonement was originally delivered as two lectures on the atonement in the New Testament and in the Old Testament. It was later published into this marvelous book.

"Thus, in the teaching of Jesus Himself, as well as in all the other types of teachings in the New Testament, our doctrine holds a position from which it cannot be dislodged. But what I am principally insisting upon in this lecture is something broader: it is the place of the Atonement in the entire New Testament situation– not in the literature so much as in the history– its place in the system of facts and truths of which Christianity consisted, after it had undergone the experiences of the resurrection and the ascension."

James Stalker (1848-1927) Scottish Presbyterian pastor, scholar, professor and author without peer, is a singular figure in the history of Christianity.
